This Strawberry Matcha Green Tea Chia Smoothie is a great way to start off the day. It’s packed with nutrients and antioxidants.

I’ve been making smoothies for a while now but we seemed to be on a smoothie hiatus the last couple of months. So, recently when my husband ordered a Strawberry Banana Smoothie from the baseball refreshment stand, I made a mental note to start up the smoothie making again.

The next morning, I whipped up this Strawberry Matcha Green Tea Chia Smoothie for him. This smoothie has one serving of fruit along with chia seeds which are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, protein, fiber, antioxidants, and calcium. In addition, I added a teaspoon of Matcha Green Tea, which is ground, steamed green tea leaves and contains a potent level of antioxidants (Tufts University did a study that shows matcha has substantially more antioxidants than blueberries and pomegranates; disclosure: I could not have the direct source of this information).

For another chia seed drink, check out my Chocolate Rooibos Chia Seed Tea Bubble Tea recipe. I’ve been a little obsessed lately with putting chia seeds into my beverages ;).

I am on a matcha kick lately and feel a strong desire to put it in everything. Smoothies included! This sounds great and I love that it is so antioxidant-full!

Thanks everyone! This is the first time I tried matcha in a smoothie – it’s so full of antioxidants, I’ve got to think of other new ways to use it.

You can buy it online. Here’s one place that seems fairly reasonable: http://www.seasonwithspice.com/products/japanese-matcha-powder?utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=googlepla&gclid=CPHKvZ7ggMMCFdNj7AodpzcAYw
