You are Loved. You are Enough. You Don’t Have to Prove Anything.

This post on You are Loved. You are Enough. You Don’t Have to Prove Anything. was written by Jeffrey Chen. Jeffrey has a passion for sharing God’s love with those around him. He blogs at The Wayvy Life.

God's Love "You are loved. You are enough. You don’t have to prove anything.” Do you hear those words? Do you feel those words? You are loved by the God of creation.

When I was a Young Life College (essentially a Christian student organization if you haven’t heard of it) leader at the University of Michigan, I learned a lot from my staff leader, Tucker. He cared greatly for us and was always so encouraging, especially when we were overwhelmed with school or personal struggles. During such times, his favorite verse to read to us was Matthew 3:16-17, which takes place after John the Baptist baptizes Jesus.

It reads, “16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.””

What Tucker found so cool about this verse is that God is declaring His love and satisfaction in His Son Jesus before Jesus has even done anything! This is before Jesus has preached to anybody, healed anybody, and surely died for anybody. Jesus has seemingly done nothing of great significance up to this point in His life, yet God is already well pleased with Him.

Tucker loved this verse so much because he believes that the way God sees Jesus is how he sees each and every one of us. While we are not THE Son of God, we are all children of God, whom He loves and is well pleased with BEFORE we do anything for Him. His love is not conditional on what we do to serve and glorify Him. God loves us for who we are – His son, His daughter, His child.

To emphasize this point, Tucker would always close such chats by telling us, “You are loved. You are enough. You don’t have to prove anything.” Do you hear those words? Do you feel those words? You are loved by the God of this vast universe. You are enough for God no matter how many times you mess up. You don’t have to prove anything to God – He already accepts you as you are, nothing more, nothing less.

So, the next time you think or feel unloved, not enough, or like you still have something to prove, recite these words.

I am loved. I am enough. I don’t have to prove anything.

I hope you believe these words when you say them, because they are the truth. They have provided me with much peace and comfort when I need it most, and I hope they can do the same for you.

As always, please feel free to reach out to me for feedback, questions, or anything else. I’m happy to chat about anything and everything. I hope you could take away something helpful from this post. You can reach me at thewayvylife@gmail.com!
