These Dark Chocolate Walnut Pomegranate Clusters are so easy to make and make the perfect party sweet.
Next Tuesday is Valentine’s Day and I’ve been collecting cheery and bright ideas on my Valentine Pinterest Board the past few weeks, some healthier than others. Since February is Heart Disease Awareness Month, I wanted to come up with an easy Valentine’s Day treat that is not only sweet but heart healthy. I got this super easy idea from Lexie’s Kitchen and added heart healthy nuts to them.
Chock full of heart healthy walnuts (high in omega-3 fatty acids) and pomegranate seeds (or arils) which contain antioxidants with heart-protecting benefits, these dark chocolate clusters make the perfect treat for your loved ones. Not to mention that dark chocolate also has protective effects for the heart.

A Valentines Day Sweet – Dark Chocolate Walnut Pomegranate Clusters
Ingredients
- 8 ounces dark chocolate
- 3/4 cup toasted walnut pieces
- 3/4 cup pomegranate seeds
Instructions
-
Melt chocolate in double boiler. Make chocolate clusters one of two ways: (1)Mix walnut pieces and pomegranate seeds in with chocolate and put spoonfuls of chocolate mixture on parchment paper lined baking sheet; (2) line mini-muffin tin with paper liners. Spoon a little melted chocolate in the bottom of the liner. Sprinkle a few walnuts and pomegranate seeds on top, then drizzle more melted chocolate on top. Sprinkle another layer of walnuts and pomegranate seeds on top, and finish with a drizzle of melted chocolate.
-
Place in refrigerator until firm.
Recipe Notes
I tried making these chocolate clusters with black walnuts as well as regular walnuts. Black walnuts have a unique flavor. They are stronger tasting and have a little bit of a fruity flavor that paired nicely with the pomegranate seeds and chocolate.
These are so pretty and delicious looking.
Love the ones in mini muffin cups — they look so organized! I might have to make a tiny exception in my diet to sneak in one of these treats for Valentine’s Day.
These are coming to my home. I love the touch of decadence with all the other goodness.
I am fine with healthy desserts — so long it is doused with a great amount of chocolate. That looks amazingly drool-worthy Jeanette. Happy V Day 🙂
They’re just so pretty. The red and the dark chocolate are are perfect complement, not only in the photo but I’m sure in taste too!
Thanks France, the fruity juicy pomegranate arils do complement the dark chocolate and walnuts nicely.
These look so yummy. I am very ready for my Valentine’s chocolate so if I don’t get any this year, I am going to make these. 🙂
Lovely! I’m thinking these would be delicious with pine nuts too.
I agree, pine nuts would be terrific too!
What a great idea! I love Pinterest for that 🙂 I don’t have any Pom arils around but I do have some leftover organic dried cranberries. Might have to throw these together tomorrow!
