  • 1 cup quinoa rinsed well, drained
  • 2 cups water
  • juice of 1/2 orange
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 3 whole black cardamon pods
  • 2 whole black peppercorns
  • 1 slice ginger peeled

For Serving

  • toasted nuts such as walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts
  • fruit such as blueberries, bananas, apples
  • raw honey or maple syrup


  1. Put all ingredients in medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and cook, covered for 15 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking to pan.

  2. Turn off heat and let sit for 5 minutes.

  3. Serve with your choice of toasted nuts, fruit and sweetener.
