This Pasta Puttanesca Recipe is a quick, healthy recipe that the beginner cook can make.

Today we are featuring our second Kids Cooking Video – Making Pasta Puttanesca, this time introducing one of my twin boys, Jeffrey. His twin brother, Kyle, makes a cameo appearance, and is the producer of the videos on the Kids Cooking Channel on Jeanette’s Healthy Living.

Take it away Jeffrey!

Jeffrey

Hi, I’m Jeffrey and I’m 17 years old. This summer, I’m a camp counselor at Bobby Valentine’s Baseball Camp. I’m also a pitcher and center fielder on a 17U summer baseball team. Baseball is a big part of my life – I play in the fall, train during the winter, and play on my high school team.

I’m not a cook at all, so when the opportunity came up to produce a video of me making Pasta Puttanesca for my mom’s blog, I took up the challenge. Pasta Puttanesca is one of my twin brother’s (Kyle) favorite meals. This was the first time I’ve ever made it and my brothers were surprised it came out so good. Thanks to Kyle for prepping all the ingredients.

Check out our first video where my little brother, Alex, made Berry Popsicles for a friend with cancer.

Thanks Sommer! This Puttanesca Sauce is one of my kids’ favorites so I really wanted them to learn how to make it themselves.

Thanks Joanne – the boys did a nice job and learned how to make one of their favorite pasta sauces, a big plus. So glad they now know how to make this dish…hoping they keep this up so they’ll have a repertoire of recipes before they take off for college.

What a fabulous job and brilliant idea for a feature!! We need more kids cooking videos to inspire youth (and all of us) to get more involved in the cooking process. The more empowered we are, the more likely we are to make healthy choices. Thank you Jeffrey! 🙂

Thanks Kelly – if my kids can cook, anyone can. My son, Jeffrey, had never cooked before making this video (can you tell by his shifting eyes throughout the videos looking for cues ;). Seriously, if Jeffrey can make Pasta Puttanesca, anyone can. Kyle prepped all the ingredients, and with practice, his knife skills are improving.

Thanks Junia – my youngest son named the duck in the video Steve Jobs. He really admired him and has a special place in his heart for people with cancer. I have a feeling that Steve Jobs, the duck, will be making future appearances in Alex’s videos, so stay tuned ;).

What a great idea. A series of videos of kids cooking is an awesome idea to get more kids cooking and in turn get people off of processed foods. I can’t tell you how many times I read or hear of people who are 20 years old who have never eating anything homemade. Then they head out on their own only to be armed with the skills to microwave a dinner. Teaching our kids to cook is one of the most important life skills we can give them. Thank you Jeanette for everything you do.

Thanks France – it’s a fun way to keep my kids busy this summer while teaching them to cook. Now that I have one son in college, I really want all my boys to know how to make a few healthy meals.

Thanks Roxana – I’ll pass along your comments. It’s a lot of fun watching the kids learn to cook – it definitely has been helping them feel more confident in the kitchen, which is a big plus for me. Looking forward to the day when they can make dinner for me all by themselves.
