With a bit of a break between Christmas and New Years, it seemed like the perfect time for a warm cup of Spiced Apple Cider or Chai Tea. I love warm spiced beverages as they provide pure and simple comfort.
What could be better than cozying up on the family room couch with a soft blanket and a nice cup of Spiced Apple Cider or Chai Tea. Both of these beverages are made with warm spices like cinnamon, cloves, star anise, and allspice.
Here are recipes for Spiced Apple Cider and Chai Tea. Enjoy!
Spiced Apple Cider
This smells so good! Some recipes I’ve seen call for sugar. There’s really no need since apple cider is naturally so sweet.
|Spiced Apple Cider|
4 cups apple cider
2 star anise
1 cinnamon stick
3 whole cloves
3 whole allspice
juice squeezed from 1 clementine
Place apple cider, star anise, cinnamon stick, cloves, allspice, and clementine juice in a medium saucepan. Simmer for 30 minutes.
Remove spices, strain and serve warm. Adapted from Simply Recipes. This Chai Tea is wonderfully fragrant. The original recipe provides ranges for the amount of spices and cooking/steeping times. Since I like a strong Chai, I used the upper range of spices and longer cooking and steeping times.
